Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments, including mental status examinations, suicide/self-harm risk assessments, and behavioral evaluations
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and the interdisciplinary care team
Administer medications safely via PO, IM, SQ, and IV routes, including psychotropic medications, while monitoring therapeutic effectiveness and adverse reactions
Provide crisis intervention and utilize de-escalation techniques to manage acute psychiatric emergencies
Implement and monitor safety protocols to protect patients and staff, including close observation, environmental safety checks, restraints, and seclusion when clinically indicated and in compliance with policy
Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, medications, treatment plans, and coping strategies
Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation in the EMR in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA standards
Coordinate intake assessments, medication reconciliation, referrals to psychiatric and medical specialists, and discharge planning to support continuity of care
Advocate for patients’ rights, dignity, and access to appropriate mental health services
Promote trauma-informed, culturally competent care and support mental health awareness while helping reduce stigma
