As a travel MRI technologist with We Care Staffing, you'll operate magnetic resonance imaging scanners to produce the diagnostic images radiologists depend on. The work spans patient screening for MRI safety (implants, ferromagnetic objects, contraindications), positioning and coaching patients through exams, selecting and adjusting protocols, administering contrast under protocol, and maintaining image quality standards while keeping the schedule moving.
Our New York MRI contracts cover hospital imaging departments, outpatient imaging centers, and specialty settings, with day, evening, night, and weekend coverage needs. Experience across body, neuro, and musculoskeletal imaging makes you more placeable, and your recruiter matches assignments to the systems and scanner platforms you already know.

New York's imaging volume is enormous: the academic medical centers and outpatient imaging networks of NYC alone run MRI schedules deep into the evening, and upstate systems in Buffalo and Rochester compete for the same limited pool of credentialed technologists.
We Care Staffing's current New York MRI contracts pay up to $3,000 per week on a 5x8 schedule with day, evening, and night options. That sits well above the national median for the profession ($88,180 per year per BLS May 2024 data), and stipends in the NYC market add meaningful tax-free value.

Travel pay here works the way it does on most contracts: a taxable hourly wage plus tax-free housing and meal stipends for travelers with a qualifying tax home. Stipends are benchmarked to federal GSA per diem rates for the assignment location, so the same weekly number can net differently city to city; we break that down for you up front.
New York has graduated state income tax plus a NYC local tax for city residents, but stipends are not taxed. For benchmarking: MRI technologists earn a national median of $88,180 per year (about $42 per hour) per BLS May 2024 data. Travel contracts typically exceed staff equivalents once tax-free stipends are counted, and the figures above give you the floor to negotiate from.

New York licenses radiologic technologists through the NYS Department of Health, and facilities will require your ARRT credentials alongside the state license. If you're licensed in another state, plan for the NY application and verification steps before your start date. Confirm the exact license category your facility requires for MRI with your recruiter, since requirements can differ between hospital and outpatient settings.
